Interesting Thought

I am reading this book of short stories The Thing Around Your Neck
By Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. The author is a Nigerian writer and writes about America as seen through the eyes of an immigrant.
This was an interesting excerpt from the book:

America is a strange place: where rich people are thin and poor people are fat, where mall food courts offer a surfeit of food and an absence of dignity, where the same items cost one price one day and half that price the next.

Think I should get my hands on this book as the excerpt is a very interesting observation

That's something I always say. :) About Fat and Thin. The fatty food is cheap. Mall culture is the single handedly responsible for America's obesity/health problems.

very true !! Reflects one of the strange things about this place.
"where the same items cost one price one day and half that price the next. " It feels like there is a year round sales season going on here !!
